Diapalante is a small UK‑registered charity working in partnership with communities in West Africa to improve access to education and opportunities.
At the heart of our work is the Diapalante Community Education Centre in Kaolack, Senegal—a place where people of all ages can learn, build confidence and develop skills for their future.

The meaning of Diapalante
The name Diapalante reflects the spirit of the organisation.
It is taken from the Wolof language, the prevalent language in Senegal. Diapalante conveys the idea of:

Our story
Diapalante was founded in the UK in 2006 and has developed through long‑term partnerships in West Africa, initially in Mauritania but in Senegal since 2010.
Over time, our work has focused increasingly on education as a key to improving opportunities and long‑term wellbeing.
The Diapalante Community Education Centre in Kaolack has grown steadily, responding to local needs and supporting hundreds of learners each year.
