Running for the Future
Mor is at home in the computer room where his expertise helps many learners to become competent computer users. But his commitment to the Centre extends far beyond the classroom. In an extraordinary demonstration of support, he took part in the London Marathon MyWay challenge, completing the full marathon distance in Senegal to raise funds towards the construction of a new, purpose built, Community Education Centre.
Despite experiencing some health difficulties during the challenge, Mor successfully completed the 42-kilometre distance. Fellow Centre members and supporters joined him for sections of the route, transforming the event into a celebration of community spirit and shared purpose.
Through his efforts, Mor raised £1,500 towards the future Community Centre—a project that will enable the organisation to expand its work and provide improved facilities for learners of all ages.
Reflecting on the experience, Mor said:
“I am deeply honoured to have taken part in this marathon and to contribute to the construction of our future Community Centre. This race was not only a personal challenge, but a symbol of the commitment and solidarity that unite us as a community.
Every step I took represented not only my effort, but also the hopes of all those who dream of a space to learn, grow, and thrive.”
