The Diapalante Community Education Centre supports learners over many years, helping them grow in confidence, develop practical skills, and contribute to others in their community.
Meet Lala
Lala is a 20-year-old student in her final year of high school and has been part of the Centre for eight years. She lives with her mother, brothers, and extended family, and despite the challenges she has faced, she has remained determined to succeed in her studies.
Her goal is to pass the baccalaureate and continue to university, with the ambition of building a career that will allow her to support and improve the lives of her family.
Through her long-term involvement with the Centre, Lala has made strong progress in English and developed valuable computer skills, including the use of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. She has also benefited from personal development sessions, which have helped her gain confidence in speaking, sharing ideas, and taking part in discussions.
Lala is also an active member of the Young Leaders programme. In this role, she supports other learners with subjects such as French, mathematics, and writing. Her patience and commitment make her a valued member of the team and a positive role model for younger participants. Lala’s journey demonstrates the lasting impact of the Centre’s work. With continued determination and support, she is progressing towards her goals while also helping others along the way—strengthening both her own future and that of her community.
Update: Lala, featured above,, has successfully passed her baccalaureate and is now studying English at university—an encouraging example of what learners can achieve over time.
